Junior Cloud-Native Developer (f/m/d)

About the role

As a Junior Cloud-Native Developer you will join SAP's Business Technology Platform team in Berlin, building and scaling the backend infrastructure that powers thousands of developers worldwide. You will work alongside senior engineers in a collaborative environment, gaining hands‑on experience with modern cloud‑native technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and operate scalable microservices that form the backbone of the SAP Business Technology Platform.
• Implement and maintain features for the central API gateway, handling traffic, security, and observability.
• Enhance core Kubernetes infrastructure to improve the deployment experience for developers using SAP Business Application Studio.
• Adopt a “you build it, you run it” mindset, including participation in on‑call rotations for 24/7 service reliability.
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers, applying best practices and continuous learning.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an outstanding graduate with strong foundational skills.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience (or equivalent graduate experience).
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in a backend language such as Go (preferred), C++, Java, or Node.js.
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud‑native paradigms.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins) and best practices.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Elastic Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, or Dynatrace.
• Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
