Mobile Software Engineer (Native iOS & Android)

About the role

Custom Surgical is seeking an experienced Mobile Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain native iOS and Android applications that power its clinical products. You will work closely with hardware, imaging, and data‑intensive workflows to deliver reliable, high‑performance mobile solutions used daily in surgical environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain native mobile apps for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin).
• Integrate with device hardware, including camera pipelines and low‑level APIs.
• Develop efficient image and video capture, processing, and storage pipelines, leveraging FFmpeg or similar tools.
• Handle large volumes of data locally and over networks while ensuring performance and stability.
• Collaborate with backend, cloud, and hardware teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Improve existing codebases with a focus on maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and tooling choices for mobile development.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in native iOS and Android development.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ownership of complex technical challenges.
• Ability to work in a fast‑growing, international startup environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
