Project Manager – Fusion Energy Projects

About the role

The Project Manager will lead strategic and technical projects within Europe’s fusion energy sector, based in Karlsruhe. You will be responsible for delivering multiple projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards while coordinating with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery while meeting quality and safety standards.
• Define project goals, design requirements, and develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, resources, risks, and budgets.
• Prepare reports and presentations; act as the main contact between clients and the supply chain.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams.
• Manage partner and supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to satisfy safety and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain essential project documentation such as RAID logs, deliverable registers, and change‑control records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science or engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager, preferably with equipment/facility development or plant construction projects.
• Familiarity with global project‑management standards (e.g., PMBOK).
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and review mechanical design drawings and CAD models.
• Native German speaker with fluent English.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with CAD and mechanical design review.
• Knowledge of PMBOK or similar project‑management methodologies.
