Seafreight Operations Manager

About the role

As a Seafreight Operations Manager you will lead end‑to‑end ocean freight execution across Westwing’s international supply chain, ensuring reliable, cost‑efficient shipments from key sourcing regions such as India and Asia to Europe. The role combines operational ownership with commercial insight to continuously improve freight processes and partner performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full seafreight cycle from booking to arrival, coordinating shippers, freight forwarders, carriers and consolidation partners.
• Monitor shipment visibility, KPIs and partner performance, driving contract compliance and service quality.
• Analyse freight costs, market trends and spot‑rate opportunities to support cost‑efficient transport decisions.
• Improve booking discipline, cargo readiness, documentation quality, container utilisation and hand‑over accuracy.
• Design and optimise consolidation hub models to enhance scalability, lead times and reliability.
• Collaborate with Planning, Buying, Warehousing, Customs, Procurement, Finance and external partners for seamless supply‑chain flows.
• Support freight tenders, benchmarking and commercial negotiations with operational insights.
• Identify operational and commercial risks early and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, reporting routines and scalable processes for international freight operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in seafreight, ocean freight, freight forwarding or international supply‑chain operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business Administration or a related field.
• Strong understanding of ocean freight processes, Incoterms, customs interfaces and container planning.
• Proven experience managing freight forwarders, carriers and freight rate structures.
• Analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable improvements.
