Senior Database Administrator (all genders)

About the role

As a Senior Database Administrator you will ensure the stability, scalability and security of the MariaDB platform that powers our cloud communication solutions. You will work on highly‑available, business‑critical real‑time systems and collaborate with infrastructure, platform and development teams to shape modern database architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate highly available MariaDB clusters.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, replication and high‑availability strategies.
• Analyse and optimise SQL queries, database performance and system scalability.
• Automate database and infrastructure operations using Ansible, Terraform and scripting.
• Support development teams with database architecture, data modelling and integration.
• Operate databases in virtualised and containerised environments, including Kubernetes.
• Implement and improve security, compliance and encryption standards.
• Participate in incident management and a 24/7 on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Several years of experience administering MariaDB in highly available production environments.
• Strong expertise in SQL, query optimisation and performance tuning.
• Experience with at least one other relational database, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Good scripting skills in Bash, Python or Perl.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation of operational processes.
• Solid understanding of IT security, compliance and high‑availability concepts.
• Analytical mindset with a high degree of ownership and collaboration.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Linux (Debian) and NoSQL or distributed systems is a plus.
