Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Real‑time Firmware for Drones

About the role

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer you will design, develop and optimise real‑time firmware for safety‑critical drone and aerospace platforms. You will collaborate closely with hardware, systems and flight‑software teams to deliver robust, secure embedded solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop native C firmware for STM32‑based embedded systems.
• Design and implement real‑time software, drivers, communication interfaces, bootloaders and hardware abstraction layers.
• Implement fault‑detection, watchdog, redundancy and failsafe mechanisms for mission‑critical operation.
• Support board bring‑up, validation and system integration together with hardware engineers.
• Analyse and troubleshoot complex hardware‑software interactions using oscilloscopes, debuggers and logic analysers.
• Contribute to safety‑critical development processes, verification activities and technical documentation.
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision‑making for embedded platforms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably with safety‑critical systems.
• Strong native C programming skills in low‑level environments.
• Hands‑on experience with STM32 microcontrollers and real‑time or bare‑metal architectures.
• Ability to read schematics and work effectively with hardware teams.
• Proven debugging skills using oscilloscopes, debuggers and logic analysers.
