Senior Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy

About the role

Aquila Clean Energy EMEA is seeking a (Senior) Legal Counsel to join its Hamburg office. You will support the development and operation of renewable energy projects across Europe, ensuring that all contractual and regulatory matters are handled efficiently and in line with the company’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of project contracts, including SPAs, EPC, O&M, financing, land lease, and PPAs.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers, clients, partners, and regulatory bodies to secure favourable terms.
• Analyse regulatory and permitting requirements throughout project development, construction, and operation.
• Maintain corporate housekeeping for project companies, including minutes, board resolutions, and changes of directors.
• Manage external legal counsel, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
• Identify legal risks and propose mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Germany.
• Minimum three years of post‑qualification experience in the energy or infrastructure sector.
• Strong knowledge of corporate and financing law.
• Fluent in German and English; additional languages are a plus.
• Highly motivated with excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
