Software Development Engineer Internship – Embedded Development

About the role

Join Amazon as a Software Development Engineer (SDE) intern and work on embedded development projects that impact millions of customers worldwide. Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary engineers to design, build, and operate innovative products and services.
• Develop scalable solutions using cloud‑native architectures and microservices in a large distributed environment.
• Participate in code reviews, write clean, maintainable code, and contribute to technical documentation.
• Build and maintain resilient, fault‑tolerant, cost‑effective distributed systems.
• Leverage GenAI and AI‑powered tools to improve development productivity.
• Work in an agile setting, applying CI/CD principles and handling on‑call operational duties.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a degree program with at least one semester/quarter remaining after the internship.
• Available to work full‑time (up to 40 hours/week) on‑site during standard business hours.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to manage ambiguity.
• Passion for creating new products, features, and services.

Required skills

• Experience or familiarity with cloud‑native architectures.
• Understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Exposure to AI/GenAI tools for software development.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and agile development practices.
