Software Engineer – Java Platform

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team of skilled engineers building and maintaining the Java infrastructure that powers Snowflake’s data cloud. You will work on core Java libraries and JVM infrastructure that support a scalable, high‑performance platform used by millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to next‑generation systems that make using Java safe, efficient, and secure.
• Provide a consistent, high‑performance platform for Snowflake engineers to deliver production solutions.
• Identify performance and availability issues, implement solutions, and instrument key components.
• Collaborate with global teams to solve large‑scale data infrastructure challenges.
• Continuously improve reliability and performance through proactive monitoring and automation.

Required profile

• Experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting complex Java systems.
• Understanding of Java fundamentals, including the JVM and core libraries.
• Strong computer‑science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Eagerness to learn JVM internals and performance tuning.
• Ability to thrive in collaborative environments and contribute to shared goals.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience (advanced degrees a plus).
