Software Engineer, Search Ranking

About the role

eBay is looking for strong engineers to build the next generation of search products and redefine advertising on its global marketplace. You will work on large‑scale ranking systems that directly impact buyer experience and revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the technical vision for search ranking by establishing engineering processes and standards.
• Collaborate with data scientists and product managers to deploy complex, scalable algorithmic logic.
• Design and maintain robust data pipelines, real‑time monitoring, and optimization algorithms.

Required profile

• 2+ years of software design and development experience with a solid computer‑science foundation.
• Experience building big‑data processing pipelines (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, ETL).
• 1+ years developing large‑scale web services or backend applications using Java, C++, or Scala.
• Background or strong interest in mathematics or machine learning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years experience or Master’s degree with 1+ years experience.
