Tax Specialist – German Tax & VAT Expert

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Specialist to lead our German tax compliance and advisory activities. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external advisors to ensure accurate filing, risk mitigation, and alignment with group policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth technical analysis and problem‑solving on German tax matters.
• Maintain communication with the tax filing agent to ensure timely and compliant income tax and VAT returns.
• Monitor legislative developments in Germany and key EU markets, working with external advisors.
• Support transfer‑pricing documentation and proactively identify tax risks.
• Manage tax audits and controversies, coordinating responses with tax authorities.
• Collaborate with global, legal, accounting, and finance teams to ensure policy alignment.
• Lead the go‑live of the German E‑invoice system.
• Assist in preparing monthly and annual operational reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years advisory experience in a large accounting/consultancy firm, law firm, tax authority or in‑house business.
• Strong background in German direct tax, VAT and international tax principles.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Proven track record handling complex tax audits and controversies.
