Team Lead - Visual Localization

About the role

SE3 Labs is looking for a Team Lead to own and advance visual‑inertial odometry (VIO) and SLAM capabilities for autonomous systems. You will shape the localization roadmap, build a high‑performing engineering team, and deliver robust solutions that run on real sensors under constrained onboard compute.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate localization engineers, fostering a collaborative problem‑solving culture.
• Define and execute the roadmap for VIO, SLAM, sensor fusion, calibration, mapping and relocalization.
• Guide architecture and core algorithm decisions, balancing accuracy, robustness, latency, memory and power.
• Establish evaluation and replay pipelines, set measurable criteria, and maintain regression tests.
• Stay hands‑on with critical algorithms, production C++ code, and debugging challenging sensor issues.
• Coordinate sensor and compute integration with robotics, embedded, hardware and field teams.
• Lead field testing, analyze mission logs, and iterate the system based on real‑world failures.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and deploying VIO or SLAM systems at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineers through complex technical work and deliver production‑ready systems.
• Strong foundation in 3D geometry, estimation, optimization and sensor fusion.
• Hands‑on expertise in production C++ and Python, Linux environments, sensor calibration and synchronization.
• Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• Fluent English; German is a plus; eligible for defence‑related security clearance.
