Accountant (m/f/d) – HGB & German Accounting Experience

About the role

As an Accountant (m/f/d) you will be a key player in our finance team, handling day‑to‑day accounting operations and supporting HGB month‑end, half‑year and year‑end closings. The role offers exposure to cross‑border EU transactions, reverse‑charge procedures and upcoming EPR reporting, allowing you to deepen your expertise in international tax and finance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage incoming and outgoing invoices, credit‑card transactions and travel expenses, ensuring timely and complete recording.
• Prepare payment runs, perform regular account reconciliations and clarifications.
• Collaborate with external tax advisors on preparatory accounting tasks.
• Act as the main liaison between Accounting and operational teams, overseeing invoice approvals and document submissions.
• Support internal month‑end, half‑year and year‑end closings in accordance with HGB.
• Contribute to the design of digital workflows and implementation of accounting/document‑management tools.
• Handle dunning processes and communicate with suppliers and customers on accounting matters.
• Ensure digital storage and structured archiving of accounting documents.

Required profile

• Completed commercial or accounting vocational training (e.g., tax clerk or financial accountant).
• Minimum 2 years of professional accounting experience with a solid foundation in German accounting.
• Experience with physical inventory processes and inventory valuation is a plus.
• Strong sense of ownership, structured and independent work style, and high attention to detail.
• Excellent German language skills and good English communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with DATEV (e.g., DATEV Unternehmen online).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with Spendesk or similar expense‑management tools (optional).
