Additive Manufacturing Design Intern – Fuel Components

About the role

Join Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Bremen as an Intern for Additive Manufacturing (AM) design of fuel components. You will support the Mechanical System Installation department on design investigations during a 5‑month internship starting 1 October 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct investigations around fuel tank design and propose optimisation concepts.
• Collect ideas and create a concept study, ideally applying bionic design principles.
• Develop innovative fuel components using CATIA V5 within an AM workflow.
• Perform weight and cost analysis of proposed solutions.
• Collaborate with System Definition, Material & Process and other related departments.

Required profile

• Enrolled full‑time student in aeronautical, mechanical or industrial engineering.
• High motivation to learn additive manufacturing technologies.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Team player who can also work independently.

Required skills

• 3D design using CATIA V5 or SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing concepts.
• Basic weight and cost analysis techniques.
