Automation & IT Internship / Thesis (m/f/d)

About the role

You will join BASF's Service Unit Global Engineering Services in Ludwigshafen to support the development and implementation of innovative solutions in industrial communications technology. The internship can focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, PLC programming, computer vision, or the evaluation of new technologies, depending on your interests and skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development, and deployment of automation and IT solutions for industrial and hazard communication.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary, cross‑departmental team to present and discuss results.
• Implement prototypes and pilot projects within BASF sites.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM field.
• Strong programming abilities (e.g., Python, C/C++, Codesys).
• Very good communication skills in German and English.
• Self‑motivated learning attitude and ability to contribute ideas actively.
