Backend Engineer (AWS, Python, TypeScript) – Berlin Hybrid

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong expertise in AWS, Python and TypeScript to join a fast‑growing team that builds a world‑leading qualitative data analysis platform. The role is based in Berlin with a hybrid work model, offering the chance to shape the core backend services of a global product.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain the AWS‑based backend architecture.
• Develop efficient Lambda functions using modern frameworks.
• Optimize performance and scalability with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and caching strategies.
• Establish robust testing practices (unit, integration, end‑to‑end).
• Maintain development and documentation standards using Poetry, GitHub Actions and Confluence.
• Manage interfaces between core products, account system and desktop applications.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, AI, QA, product and UX/UI teams.
• Contribute to an agile, supportive team culture.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on backend development experience with Python (Django, Flask or FastAPI).
• Strong knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda and S3, with a desire to deepen expertise.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript and familiarity with Boto3.
• Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB) and ORM tools.
• Experience with dependency management (Poetry, UV, pip) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Background working in agile teams (Scrum or Kanban) and test automation.
• Excellent communication, initiative and teamwork skills.
