Backend Software Engineer – AI Music Video Platform

About the role

Neural Frames is a profitable, bootstrapped AI music video generator looking for a Backend Software Engineer to own and scale the systems that turn songs into videos. You will work closely with the founder and tech lead to build robust, high‑performance backend services in Python.

Key responsibilities

• Own video generation pipelines, model orchestration, queue management and supporting infrastructure at scale.
• Design and implement backend services in Python that integrate multiple AI providers (e.g., Fal, BytePlus, OpenRouter, AWS) handling cost, latency and failure modes.
• Improve reliability, latency and cost of the generation stack, optimizing render times and per‑video expenses.
• Collaborate on architecture decisions for new product surfaces and build the required infrastructure.
• Instrument, monitor and maintain production systems, ensuring visibility and rapid issue resolution.
• Contribute to AI/ML components such as prompt engineering, model evaluation, fine‑tuning pipelines and experimentation with new models.

Required profile

• Proven experience shipping production Python back‑ends handling async workloads, queues and retries.
• Comfortable working with AI APIs and making trade‑offs around cost, latency and reliability.
• Strong systems thinking: root‑cause analysis and proactive bottleneck removal.
• High agency and ability to work independently without waiting for tickets.
• Based in Berlin and able to work on‑site at least four days per week.
