Carbon Steering Internship (m/f/d)

About the role

BASF’s Corporate Sustainability division is seeking a motivated intern to support the Carbon Steering Group. The role focuses on sustainability and CO2 accounting, helping to map and report greenhouse gas emissions for externally purchased raw materials.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in calculating and reporting greenhouse gas emissions.
• Map carbon footprints of external raw materials and specific chemicals.
• Create models to estimate carbon footprints of selected chemicals.
• Coordinate and prioritize carbon‑footprint mapping activities with business‑unit representatives.
• Support data collection and documentation for sustainability reporting.

Required profile

• Enrolled in chemistry, natural sciences or a comparable study program.
• Strong interest in corporate strategy, sustainability and carbon accounting.
• Very good command of German and English.
• Independent working style with strategic thinking abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Knowledge of lifecycle assessment (advantageous).
