Director, European Government Operations

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking a Director to lead its European Government Operations, based in Munich (with presence in Berlin). You will shape policy, build strategic relationships with government bodies, and align government affairs with business development across Germany and key European markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead Rocket Lab’s government affairs strategy in Germany and emerging European markets.
• Engage with EU‑level institutions and programs such as EDF, EDIP, EUSPA, and the European Defense Agency to advance policy and program objectives.
• Establish and grow Rocket Lab’s presence with government entities and innovation ecosystems in Munich and other strategic hubs.
• Partner closely with the Business Development team to support market expansion, customer engagement, and government‑funded programs.
• Shape Rocket Lab’s positioning in European policy debates, including launch sovereignty, dual‑use technology regulation, and EU Space procurement frameworks.
• Provide strategic guidance on developments directly relevant to the company’s aerospace and defense activities.

Required profile

• Results‑oriented and proactive with a strong political acumen.
• Comfortable operating in complex, fast‑moving environments.
• Proven experience in government affairs, public‑sector engagement, or related fields within Europe.
• Ability to align government strategy with business development objectives.
