Engineering Manager - Security (EU/UK Remote)

About the role

Pliant is building a modular B2B payments platform and needs a leader to secure its engineering foundation. As the first Engineering Manager for the security team, you will guide two existing engineers, shape the security function, and stay hands‑on with technical work.

Key responsibilities

• Own secure‑by‑default Terraform and Docker modules, hardened container images, and platform guardrails.
• Drive day‑to‑day cloud security posture on AWS, including IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, GuardDuty and remediation of Wiz findings.
• Automate compliance evidence collection for PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001 and DORA.
• Run end‑to‑end vulnerability management and incident response, from triage to post‑mortems.
• Build application security practices through threat modeling, architecture reviews and secure coding guidance.
• Hire and develop the security team, setting a lasting technical bar.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in DevSecOps or cloud security, with ownership of an AWS environment.
• Proficiency in Terraform and ability to create secure, reusable modules.
• Experience securing container workloads (ECS, EKS or Kubernetes) and scripting in Python, Bash or TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of PCI DSS, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 and experience leading vulnerability management or incident response.
• Proven ability to lead engineers and make hiring decisions.
