Fibre Optic Technician

About the role

Onken Offshore Contractors GmbH is seeking experienced Fibre Optic Technicians to support large‑scale offshore wind farm (OWF) projects starting in spring 2027. The role involves working on both offshore and onshore high‑voltage subsea cable systems across Europe, with a focus on safety, quality and technical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fibre optic splicing to high‑quality standards for offshore and onshore cable systems.
• Conduct OTDR testing to verify fibre integrity and signal quality.
• Assist with system integration and produce detailed reports during cable installation phases.
• Collaborate with cable jointers and installation teams during cable deployment and testing.
• Maintain strict compliance with safety protocols and technical documentation procedures.

Required profile

• Valid Fibre Optic Qualification.
• Full GWO certifications.
• Advanced Rescue Training.
• GWO Slinger Signaller certification.
• Medical clearance with Chester Step.

Required skills

• Fibre optic splicing.
• OTDR testing.
• Cable system integration.
• Technical reporting.
