Field Quality & Regulatory Engineer (Munich)

About the role

NIO is looking for a Field Quality & Regulatory Engineer to join its Munich Quality Team. You will act as the main liaison between Quality, Engineering, After‑Sales, Homologation and automotive authorities, ensuring that vehicles meet global regulatory requirements and that field issues are resolved quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor new automotive regulations, standards and authority requirements.
• Evaluate regulatory impact on vehicle programs and coordinate internal alignment.
• Support implementation of new legal and compliance requirements.
• Serve as primary contact for authorities such as KBA, RDW and other EU agencies.
• Manage escalation of critical quality topics, service campaigns and recalls.
• Prepare reports, technical assessments and compliance documentation.
• Track quality KPIs, field performance trends and manage audits and investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 + years of experience in automotive quality, compliance or homologation.
• Background in automotive OEM, Tier‑1 supplier or vehicle safety engineering is preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of automotive quality processes and standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, 8D, FMEA, PPAP).
• Familiarity with UNECE regulations, EU vehicle compliance and product safety requirements.
• Experience with type‑approval/homologation processes and software‑update regulations (R156).
• Awareness of functional safety (ISO 26262).
