Financial Controller – Hands-On Accounting & Reporting

About the role

Our client, an international technology and manufacturing company, is seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller for its Cologne‑area operation. The role combines day‑to‑day accounting, month‑end close and reporting duties with the responsibility of acting as the primary liaison to the global headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with German HGB.
• Support US GAAP consolidation reporting and quarterly/annual closing for the international group.
• Own month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including reconciliations and reporting packages.
• Serve as the main contact for auditors, tax advisors and the corporate finance team.
• Manage VAT, tax compliance and support transfer‑pricing processes.
• Execute payroll approvals, cash‑management and inventory/asset accounting within SAP.
• Participate in ERP/SAP optimisation projects and future S/4HANA migration.

Required profile

• Strong background in accounting and finance operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on experience with German HGB reporting and month‑end/year‑end closings.
• Exposure to IFRS and/or US GAAP consolidation.
• Fluent in German and English with excellent communication skills.
