Financial Controller

About the role

We are a fast‑scaling European energy storage developer and operator seeking a Financial Controller to join our European finance function. Based in Hamburg with hybrid working, you will manage end‑to‑end finance for German entities and multiple project SPVs, supporting our multi‑GW expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting, AP/AR, payroll coordination and cost controlling for German offices and SPVs.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports under HGB (with IFRS exposure preferred).
• Support audits, tax advisors and treasury activities, including intercompany funding and SPV financing.
• Control project costs, assist bank drawdowns, manage VAT reporting and liaise with tax authorities.
• Prepare financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders, handle subsidy applications and lender reporting.
• Lead annual budgeting for German entities and support project‑level cash‑flow forecasting.
• Participate in European finance transformation initiatives, develop scalable processes and drive automation.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in accounting, controlling, audit or project finance.
• Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB); IFRS exposure is a plus.
• Experience with SPVs, infrastructure or energy‑related projects is desirable.
• Proficiency with DATEV and/or Exact Online is beneficial.
• Advanced Excel skills and solid financial modelling capability.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Structured, detail‑oriented, hands‑on working style.
• Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude.
