Financial Controller

About the role

We are supporting an international manufacturing group in hiring a Financial Controller for their German entity in Remagen. Reporting to the Head of Finance & Accounting Germany, this position is pivotal for accurate accounting, financial reporting, and controlling, with a clear development path toward a Finance Manager role.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations ensuring compliance with German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including reporting in ERP systems and submission to group platforms such as Tagetik.
• Coordinate external audits and prepare statutory financial statements.
• Perform financial controlling activities: variance analysis, cost control, and performance monitoring.
• Support cash‑flow forecasting in collaboration with Treasury, Credit Control, and Accounting teams.
• Ensure tax compliance (VAT, corporate tax, sales tax) and assist in reporting and planning.
• Maintain and improve internal controls in line with group policies and German regulations.
• Drive process improvements focusing on automation, efficiency, and inventory valuation.
• Collaborate on cross‑functional finance initiatives and progressively take on leadership of the accounting team.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5‑7 years of experience in finance, controlling, accounting or audit, preferably in an international company or Big 4 environment.
• Strong knowledge of HGB and IFRS accounting standards.
• Fluent German and English.
• Structured, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics or Infor.
• Proficiency with reporting tools like Tagetik.
• Advanced Excel skills.
