Footwear Designer – Innovative Collections

About the role

Birkenstock is seeking a creative Footwear Designer to lead the development of new shoe collections. You will translate brand vision into market‑ready designs, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and emerging trends.

Key responsibilities

• Design footwear collections from concept sketches to final prototypes, ensuring brand alignment and market relevance.
• Conduct trend and market analysis, gathering regional and consumer insights to shape design strategy.
• Collaborate with product line managers and developers to meet creative, functional, and business goals.
• Create precise technical drawings and specifications, working with technical teams to refine fit and construction.
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback throughout the design cycle.
• Mentor junior designers, providing guidance and constructive critiques.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in footwear design, industrial design, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of footwear design experience with a record of commercially successful products.
• Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and technical construction.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; fluency in English or German is a plus.
