Head of Design

About the role

n8n is looking for a Head of Design to lead its growing design organization. You will shape the user experience of a platform that sits at the intersection of AI and workflow automation, helping both power users and newcomers build faster.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain a clear, consistent quality bar for design output across the team.
• Establish review processes and critique rituals that foster shared language around quality.
• Evolve the design system and QA practices as the team scales.
• Lower the learning curve for new users while preserving the power needed by experienced builders.
• Influence product strategy by bringing design thinking into roadmap discussions.
• Lead the expansion toward a broader, less‑technical audience.
• Build strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, and leadership as a thought partner.
• Manage and grow a team of roughly 14 designers, including design leads, ICs, design engineering, and UX research.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading design teams in fast‑moving tech environments.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to shape product direction through design.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional partners.
• Passion for improving user experience in complex, AI‑driven products.
