Internship Counterparty Risk Management (m/f/d)

About the role

Join the Counterparty Risk Management and Governance unit within BASF's Corporate Finance department. This internship runs from September 2026 for 3 to 6 months and focuses on managing credit and bank risks for customers and financial institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support projects related to customer credit risk, trade finance, and bank risk management.
• Conduct ad‑hoc research on macro‑economic developments such as bank mergers, bankruptcies, and international conflicts.
• Assist in evaluating short‑term country risks and gain exposure to hedging instruments.
• Analyze major customers and understand their impact on a multinational corporation.
• Contribute to digitalisation initiatives within the risk management function.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a degree program in economics, business engineering, computer science, or mathematics (no gap year).
• Strong academic performance and a keen interest in financial topics.
• Basic understanding of balance sheets, cash‑flow statements, and profit‑and‑loss statements.
• Excellent analytical abilities with an independent and accurate work approach.
• Communicative, open‑minded personality with strong written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of PowerBI.
• Knowledge of Tableau.
• Familiarity with SAP.
• Experience with databases.
