Junior AI Engineer (m/f/d) – Berlin

About the role

Join ZDF Sparks as a Junior AI Engineer and help turn experimental AI ideas into reliable, production‑grade solutions for the media industry. You will work in a hybrid team in Berlin, collaborating with consultants and developers to deliver end‑to‑end AI services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and modernise data pipelines and AI algorithms, moving projects from proof‑of‑concept to stable production.
• Process structured and unstructured data, including preprocessing, augmentation and visualisation.
• Train, fine‑tune and evaluate models for text, image, audio and video use cases.
• Apply explainable‑AI techniques and open‑source tools to make model decisions understandable for stakeholders.
• Rapidly prototype solutions using frameworks such as Streamlit and LangChain.

Required profile

• Builder mindset with a strong passion for coding and continuous learning.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced consulting environment and translating business problems into technical designs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Python (pandas, NumPy) and SQL.
• Data visualisation and Jupyter Notebook experience.
• Familiarity with ML libraries such as scikit‑learn.
• Interest or basic knowledge of LangChain, LLM orchestration and vector databases.
• Experience with Streamlit for rapid prototyping.
• Version control (Git), pull‑request workflow, code reviews and CI/CD pipelines.
