Junior Controller – Product Costing & Inventory Valuation (Hybrid)

About the role

Join BASF’s Product Costing & Inventory Valuation team to develop expertise in cost accounting, inventory valuation and SAP S/4HANA processes. You will support month‑end and year‑end closing, product costing runs and financial reporting while collaborating with finance, controlling and operational teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Execute product costing runs and validate standard and actual product costs in SAP.
• Analyze cost deviations, perform root‑cause analyses and work with manufacturing, accounting and controlling to correct variances.
• Maintain and validate costing‑relevant master data to ensure high data quality and accurate inventory valuation.
• Provide operational support for SAP S/4HANA product costing processes.
• Contribute to process improvements, harmonisation initiatives and automation projects.
• Assist in month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including financial reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
• First experience in accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing finance or controlling gained through internships, working‑student positions or early‑career roles.
• Good understanding of accounting principles, financial closing processes, cost accounting and inventory valuation.
• Strong interest in manufacturing environments and a structured, analytical way of working.
• Experience with SAP ERP, SAP CO, Product Costing, Material Ledger or SAP S/4HANA is an advantage.
