Media Analyst Consultant – Bonn

About the role

UN Women is seeking a Media Analyst Consultant to strengthen its global media positioning and shape public narratives on gender equality, women’s rights, and emerging issues such as digital violence, AI, climate, and the care economy. Based in Bonn, the consultant will work closely with the Media Relations Manager and internal stakeholders across headquarters, regional and country offices.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily monitoring of global, regional and national media (print, broadcast, digital and social) to identify trends, narratives and reputational risks.
• Produce concise media analysis reports and daily summaries highlighting key narratives, sentiment and engagement opportunities, especially during high‑visibility moments.
• Track and analyse social media conversations using Meltwater and other listening platforms, identifying influencers and high‑impact content.
• Build, update and maintain the media database to support strategic communications.

Required profile

• Strong collaboration and communication skills within a coordinated global communications function.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced, politically sensitive media environment.
• Experience navigating complex news cycles, reputational risks and high‑visibility events.

Required skills

• Meltwater or similar social listening tools.
