Ocean Freight Specialist – Transport Management

About the role

Join Covestro's newly established Transport Management team at the Global Service Center, supporting ocean freight operations from request to delivery. You will coordinate shipments, manage transport orders, and ensure accurate documentation and customs clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage transportation activities, tracking shipments from request to delivery.
• Process transport orders using SAP Transport Management, Cargo Cockpit, and other logistics software.
• Enter ETA data, communicate delays, and provide POD, CMR, invoice, and B/L documents to internal customers.
• Assist with customs clearance procedures and resolve transportation issues with carriers and business units.
• Analyze shipment data to identify optimization opportunities.
• Maintain records of shipments, deliveries, and transportation costs.
• Monitor carrier performance (OTD, OTIF, ETA) and compliance with service agreements.
• Ensure correct freight payment, invoice matching, and cost verification.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including the SAP S/4 HANA transition.
• Share knowledge with less experienced team members and support logistics projects.

Required profile

• University, bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma in logistics, supply chain, business administration or related field.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, customer service, or 3PL environments.
• Understanding of transportation management principles and practices.
