Patent Counsel for High‑Growth Tech Startups

About the role

GoodIP is seeking a commercially‑minded Patent Counsel to act as a strategic partner for a portfolio of high‑growth technology startups. You will work at the intersection of cutting‑edge hardware and agile software, helping founders protect their innovations while aligning IP strategy with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement IP strategies for leading tech startups.
• Collaborate with founders, product owners and engineers to identify and protect key innovations.
• Manage the IP portfolio of multiple startups and coordinate external counsel.
• Provide clear, business‑focused advice on patent matters to non‑legal stakeholders.
• Ensure alignment of IP activities with overall company growth plans.

Required profile

• Fully qualified patent attorney (US, EPO and/or Germany).
• Significant experience in semiconductors, physics and electronics.
• Professional fluency in German and English.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast‑paced, startup environments.
• Strong attention to detail while keeping sight of broader business goals.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of semiconductor technology.
• Expertise in physics and electronic engineering concepts.
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into understandable language.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in German and English.
• Strategic thinking combined with pragmatic execution.
