Powertrain Simulation Engineer

About the role

Stark is seeking a Powertrain Simulation Engineer to lead the development of high‑fidelity 1D models for electric powertrain systems, including propulsion, inverter, battery and thermal management. You will simulate aggressive flight profiles, automate analysis pipelines, and validate system performance before hardware is built.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain 1D multi‑physics models of the complete electric powertrain using tools such as GT‑SUITE, Siemens Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape, or Dymola/Modelica.
• Execute performance and mission simulations (high‑power discharge, dynamic pulse loading, extreme temperatures) to assess efficiency and range.
• Conduct trade studies and sensitivity analyses to optimise component sizing, gear ratios, voltage levels and cooling strategies.
• Correlate simulation results with hardware test data from dyno and battery labs, continuously improving model accuracy.
• Provide high‑fidelity plant models for control algorithm development and SIL/HIL testing.
• Develop scripts to automate simulation runs, post‑processing and performance reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience in simulation, modelling or systems engineering focused on electric powertrains or thermal systems.
• Proven ability to interpret test data and translate hardware behaviour into accurate mathematical models.
