Project Engineer – Industrial Automation & Digital Continuity (Augsburg)

About the role

The Project Engineer will support industrial automation and digital continuity initiatives within an aerospace manufacturing environment in Augsburg. This position combines IT, automation, and aerospace production knowledge to ensure reliable tool backup processes, system integrity, and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering projects related to Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) in aerospace production.
• Manage and optimise Octoplant‑based backup, versioning, and configuration processes for industrial tools and machines.
• Ensure robust tool and data backup across production systems and maintain operational continuity.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, IT, and automation teams to preserve system integrity.
• Analyse and improve processes for aerospace manufacturing machines, tools, and digital infrastructure.
• Provide technical support and coordinate projects across cross‑functional teams.
• Guarantee compliance with aerospace standards, industrial safety, and cybersecurity requirements.
• Communicate effectively with German‑speaking stakeholders at all organisational levels.

Required profile

• Full professional proficiency in German.
• Experience in engineering, automation, IT, or aerospace production.
• Strong knowledge of Octoplant for backup, version control, and configuration management.
• Familiarity with IACS environments, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks.
• Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, production machines, and tooling.
• Ability to manage technical projects with structured planning and clear communication.
