Quantum Software Development Engineer (VIE) – Germany

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a highly motivated graduate to join its Connected Intelligence department in Ottobrunn as a Quantum Software Development Engineer on a VIE contract. You will work on the implementation and prototyping of quantum‑related software components, turning architectural concepts into working demos and simulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and integrate post‑quantum cryptographic (PQC) algorithms and protocols such as CRYSTALS‑Kyber, CRYSTALS‑Dilithium and FALCON into embedded and constrained environments.
• Support hardware‑software integration for quantum‑related projects, creating prototypes and proof‑of‑concept demonstrators.
• Collaborate with the domain technical lead to prioritize tasks and translate system‑level requirements into functional software.
• Participate in testing and validation activities within development and testing environments.

Required profile

• Recent graduate (18‑28 years old) with a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
• EU citizenship (including Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) and eligibility for the VIE program.
• Strong motivation to work in quantum technologies and a willingness to learn rapidly.

Required skills

• Knowledge of post‑quantum cryptographic algorithms (CRYSTALS‑Kyber, CRYSTALS‑Dilithium, FALCON).
• Experience with embedded systems and constrained environments.
• Ability to perform hardware‑software integration and software prototyping.
• Familiarity with development and testing environments.
