Research Associate (PostDoc) in Applied Geochemistry

About the role

The Institute of Applied Geosciences at TU Berlin seeks a motivated researcher to lead and develop its laser‑ICP‑MS laboratory. The position is part of the Applied Geochemistry of Terrestrial Systems group and offers the chance to conduct interdisciplinary research in mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, operate, maintain, and further develop the laser‑ICP‑MS laboratory (Agilent 8900 Triple Quad & Teledyne Excimer Laser Ablation System).
• Supervise researchers and students using laser‑ICP‑MS techniques.
• Contribute to research projects and publish results in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Teach German‑language Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in Geotechnologie, supervise theses, and conduct field and laboratory courses.
• Develop an independent research profile and assist in acquiring external funding.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in geosciences and a doctorate in mineralogy, geochemistry, petrology, or a related field.
• Experience with laser‑ICP‑MS (La‑ICP‑MS) techniques.
• Ability to teach in German and/or English; willingness to improve language skills if needed.
• Motivation to support and obtain external research funding.
