Senior Accountant (Mexican GAAP)

About the role

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the general ledger of Shiji’s Mexican entity under Mexican GAAP. Working closely with the U.S. and European finance teams, you will ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and smooth month‑end close processes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee GL accounting for the Mexican entity, ensuring alignment with Mexican GAAP and group policies.
• Prepare and post journal entries and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet and P&L accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Support the preparation of financial statements in collaboration with tax advisers and act as the primary contact for audits.
• Coordinate cross‑border accounting tasks with U.S. and Europe finance teams.
• Maintain compliance with statutory tax filings, reporting requirements, and internal controls for Mexico.
• Identify and drive process improvements and automation within the GL function.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and tax advisors to ensure complete and accurate records.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of accounting experience, including extensive GL responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Mexican GAAP (NIF) and familiarity with SOX or other compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Navision.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent written and spoken communication in Spanish and English.
• Detail‑oriented, well‑organized, and able to work independently across time zones.
