Senior AI Engineer — Search & NLP

About the role

We are a VC‑backed AI software company in Berlin building a Sales Intelligence Platform for wholesale distributors. As a Senior AI Engineer focused on Search & NLP, you will own and advance the core AI systems that directly generate revenue for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement search algorithms and NLP pipelines to process ERP data, product catalogs, and customer interactions.
• Build recommendation systems and AI models that enable proactive sales automation.
• Optimize retrieval and ranking for product matching, customer lookup, and intelligent query handling.
• Collaborate with product and data teams to ship features with measurable impact.
• Contribute to the AI platform architecture using state‑of‑the‑art models and techniques.
• Own ML systems end‑to‑end: deployment, monitoring, fine‑tuning, and feedback loops.

Required profile

• Proficient in Python for NLP pipelines and APIs, and SQL for complex analytics queries in production.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands‑on experience with LLMs, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, vector embeddings, reranking, and offline evaluation.
• Practical experience with search & retrieval systems such as Elasticsearch/OpenSearch combined with vector search (Qdrant, Weaviate, pgvector).
• Strong knowledge of a deep‑learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Experience building and deploying scalable NLP APIs/microservices (REST/gRPC) using Docker and Kubernetes.
