Senior Europe Accountant – Germany & Italy (9‑month FTC)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Europe Accountant to support VIRTUS Data Centres’ expansion into Germany and Italy. The role will own monthly and statutory reporting, manage day‑to‑day finance operations and help shape finance processes as the new markets move from construction to operational phases.

Key responsibilities

• Full ownership of monthly and annual financial reporting for Germany and Italy, applying IFRS, German GAAP and Italian GAAP.
• Manage day‑to‑day finance activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and balance‑sheet integrity.
• Handle payroll accounting for Germany, including journal posting, bonus and holiday accruals.
• Prepare and review month‑end adjustments, pre‑payments and accruals.
• Collaborate with the Fixed Assets team to account for property, plant and equipment and assets under construction.
• Oversee outsourced bookkeeping services, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Support SAP and other system enhancements, embedding strong controls and reporting standards.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience in a finance team.
• Proactive, forward‑thinking attitude with ability to drive change.
• Experience working with multi‑country accounting, preferably in Germany and Italy.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills.

Required skills

• SAP accounting system.
