Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Experian is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance across its operations in the DACH region. Reporting to the Legal and Compliance Director in Germany, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior management and lead high‑impact legal projects in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Advise senior leadership on complex legal, regulatory and commercial matters, focusing on risk management and compliance.
• Draft, review and negotiate national and international contracts, including high‑value supply, distribution, service and licensing agreements.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and business risks; develop company‑wide risk‑management frameworks.
• Manage dispute resolution processes, coordinate external counsel and represent the company in high‑profile proceedings.
• Lead data‑protection initiatives, ensure GDPR compliance and advise on cross‑border data transfers.
• Design and deliver training for management and legal teams; mentor junior legal staff.
• Coordinate legal strategy across international subsidiaries and act as liaison for global legal matters.
• Lead major legal projects such as M&A due diligence, restructuring and other strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• University law degree (state examination) and admission to practice as a lawyer.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in an international corporate environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in international business law, contract law and data‑protection law.
• Proven track record handling high‑stakes legal matters across multiple jurisdictions.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of GDPR and other data‑protection regulations.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional legal projects and manage external counsel.
