Senior Mechanical Engineer - Robotics

About the role

RobCo is building autonomous industrial robots and needs a senior mechanical engineer to lead the hardware side of the business. You will translate high‑level concepts into field‑ready robotic systems, drive engineering standards and mentor the team in a fast‑growing scale‑up environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end mechanical design cycles from sketching and calculations through CAD modeling, prototyping and production.
• Establish and refine engineering standards and scalable design processes for rapid iteration.
• Design high‑precision mechanisms that integrate motion systems, actuators, sensors and electrical/mechatronic components.
• Drive DFM/DFT best practices, work with contract manufacturers, optimise BOM costs and manage engineering change control.
• Execute structural calculations, detailed drawings and GD&T to ensure reliable field performance.

Required profile

• Degree or vocational training in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• Several years of full‑cycle product development and mechanical engineering experience across multiple companies.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and promote modern design methodologies.
• Very good English skills; German is a plus.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (or comparable CAD) for 3D modeling.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and detailed engineering drawings.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testing (DFT) expertise.
• Mechanical design of motion‑control systems, actuators and sensor integration.
• Engineering calculations and structural analysis.
