Senior Mesh Network and MAC Engineer

About the role

STARK is a defence‑technology company developing autonomous platforms for contested environments. As a Senior Mesh Network and MAC Engineer you will translate advanced signal‑processing models into robust, real‑world networking solutions that enable directional wireless communication across dynamic, multi‑node systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement MAC protocols and routing algorithms optimized for narrow‑beam, multi‑node communications, addressing neighbour discovery challenges.
• Create dynamic TDMA schedules and beam‑coordination mechanisms tightly integrated with PHY and antenna steering subsystems.
• Develop resilient multi‑hop relay capabilities to sustain high‑bandwidth video and control links over tactical distances.
• Build and maintain multi‑node Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) testbeds with automated logging to evaluate network join times and topology reform behaviours.
• Perform low‑level Linux networking work, including kernel‑level packet handling and live debugging on embedded platforms.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and shipping mesh networking protocols in commercial or defence products.
• Deep practical knowledge of the Linux networking stack at both kernel and packet levels.
• Strong understanding of wireless propagation and physical‑layer constraints.
• Hands‑on experience creating medium‑access control schemes or TDMA schedulers.
