Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure

About the role

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer you will join an empowered team responsible for building, automating and scaling GetYourGuide's cloud and container‑based infrastructure. You will act as an "engineer for the engineers", helping product teams leverage a reliable platform built on AWS, Kubernetes and Istio.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale cloud infrastructure, manage Kubernetes clusters and the AWS environment.
• Ensure high availability, autoscaling and failure‑recovery for production and pre‑production systems.
• Develop custom controllers to automate cluster management.
• Use Istio and Envoy to manage service communication and provide network observability.
• Drive initiatives for better system design and adoption of new technologies.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and champion an operations culture.

Required profile

• Strong low‑level understanding of Linux and production systems.
• Proactive team player with excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Problem‑solver with operations skills to diagnose production issues quickly.
• Passionate about monitoring, observability and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Kubernetes and container orchestration at scale.
• AWS cloud services.
• Istio and Envoy for service mesh.
• Go programming language (primary language used).
• Linux operating system.
