Senior Software Engineer – Device Connectivity (Go)

About the role

At 1komma5grad you will join the Product & Tech team to integrate tens of thousands of distributed energy devices into the Heartbeat AI platform. You will work on communication protocols, develop software for IoT gateways, and test the energy management system in our Berlin lab while providing expert support to internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical integration of inverters, batteries, charging infrastructure, and heat pumps into the Heartbeat energy management system.
• Ensure seamless communication and interoperability between different OEM devices.
• Implement protocols such as Modbus TCP, OCPP, MQTT, and EEbus.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain services on IoT gateways using Go.
• Diagnose LAN/WAN, VPN, and firewall issues and build resilient edge services.
• Conduct testing of the energy management system in the Berlin lab.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet performance and reliability standards.
• Provide expert‑level support to internal and external stakeholders.
• Promote experiment‑driven innovation within the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in IoT development and integration of diverse OEM devices.
• Hands‑on experience developing software modules for IoT devices.
• Experience with Go programming (highly preferred).
• Proficiency in communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, OCPP, and MQTT.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WLAN and device discovery mechanisms.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Outstanding communication, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Agile, result‑oriented mindset and strong team player attitude.
• Very good spoken and written English; German is a plus.
