Software Engineer, Connected Vehicle Platform

About the role

The Berlin team seeks a Software Engineer for the Connected Vehicle Platform to design, build, and operate software that links vehicle systems with infotainment, cloud, and mobile ecosystems. You will bridge low‑level communication paths and high‑level vehicle interfaces, creating reusable platform capabilities while supporting brand‑specific configurations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain communication services, client libraries, gateway and routing components for vehicle‑cloud integration.
• Implement message publication/subscription, request/reply interactions, service discovery and reliable failure handling.
• Deploy and validate services across embedded compute platforms, virtualized environments, simulators and prototype vehicles.
• Investigate and resolve issues using logs, traces, packet captures and diagnostics to improve reliability and performance.
• Support partner developers with integration guidance, examples, documentation and technical issue triage.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) with 3+ years developing software for distributed systems, embedded platforms or middleware.
• Experience with messaging, gRPC, event‑driven architectures and Protobuf contracts.
• Familiarity with CAN/DBC, vehicle gateways and connected device integration.
• Ability to deploy and debug on Android Automotive, Linux, test benches or simulators using CI/CD, Docker or Bazel.
• Knowledge of mutual TLS, authentication, telemetry (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry) and end‑to‑end troubleshooting.
