Technical Assistant – Microanalysis Lab (f/m/d)

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Assistant to support advanced micro‑analytical work in the Museum’s Geochemical and Microanalytical Laboratory Complex. The role involves operating electron microscopes and X‑ray fluorescence spectrometers to analyse natural‑history specimens, including rocks, minerals, meteorites and fossils.

Key responsibilities

• Perform micro‑analytical examinations of specimens using electron microscopy and micro‑X‑ray fluorescence.
• Prepare and mount samples for analysis, ensuring quality and reproducibility.
• Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Document analytical results and contribute to internal data management systems.
• Assist in the integration of existing microscopy facilities into a new, consolidated laboratory.

Required profile

• Completed vocational training or a degree in natural sciences, geology, material science or a related field.
• Experience with laboratory work and handling of delicate specimens.
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed protocols.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
