Accountant – Frankfurt

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team in Frankfurt, Germany. Reporting to the Group Manager, Finance, you will support core financial operations, statutory compliance, and project‑based financial activities for our German operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and execute daily cash management.
• Support month‑end close, budgeting, forecasting, cost reviews and provide financial analysis.
• Prepare VAT returns, statutory reports and assist in the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with HGB and German GAAP.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation, working papers and tax schedules.
• Coordinate monthly payroll journals, accruals and reconciliations.
• Assist the German office with purchase orders, invoice processing and credit‑card transactions.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the CFO and Financial Reporting Manager on special projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting or Commerce.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in a medium to large organisation.
• Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB), Umsatzsteuergesetz (UStG) and tax requirements.
• WP (Wirtschaftsprüfer) qualification or in progress is a plus.
• Fluent in German and English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP accounting systems.
• Advanced MS Excel and MS Office skills.
• Experience preparing VAT returns and statutory filings.
• Understanding of German GAAP and HGB reporting standards.
