Safety and Reliability Engineer – Aerospace

About the role

Join Airbus Protect’s Safety Business Unit in Friedrichshafen to work on cutting‑edge safety and reliability engineering for both unmanned and manned spacecraft. You will contribute to the development of safer, greener, and more inclusive transportation systems while enjoying a scenic lakeside campus.

Key responsibilities

• Perform RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) tasks at system, subsystem, and equipment levels.
• Conduct safety assessments across product maturity stages (phases I‑III) and for operational activities.
• Develop and analyse FMECA, HSIA, and fault‑tree studies.
• Define RAMS requirements for equipment suppliers and verify design compliance.
• Prepare hazard analyses for spacecraft, instruments, and ground‑support equipment.
• Co‑engineer with FDIR architects on failure detection, isolation and recovery strategies.
• Document results and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (up to 4 years) in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications, or a closely related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in safety and reliability engineering.
