Customer Engineer – Field Service (Semiconductor)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer you will be the primary technical liaison for Applied Materials' semiconductor customers in Dresden. You will install, maintain, and upgrade complex equipment, using digital analytics and diagnostic techniques to ensure high performance and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Complete quality repairs and verify operational quality of equipment.
• Respond to fab issues, participate in escalation calls and coordinate with senior engineers.
• Execute hardware start‑up (T1) activities unassisted and basic process start‑ups (T2) with assistance.
• Assist in planning and communicating support plans with customer management.
• Follow all safety, IP and environmental procedures while maintaining cleanroom standards.

Required profile

• Associate, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics engineering or equivalent technical training.
• 2–4 years of field service, maintenance or installation experience in a semiconductor or cleanroom environment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Valid authorization to work in Germany and a driver’s licence.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Salary range €52,000 – €71,500 per year
